The Council are deeply sorry to announce the passing of Keith Letchford on July 2nd. Keith was employed at Rugby in heavy engineering and then later in his career due to changes within his company moved over to information technology. He was originally from Gravesend, Kent and on retirement he and Pennie moved to St. Erth Praze where they tended their large garden and enjoyed the company of their pet donkey Arthur.

On arriving in Cornwall they joined the society and were soon elected to the society management where Keith’s engineering and practical experience was extremely useful and Pennie became Membership Secretary. Sadly Keith’s health began to break down soon after and they had to retire from their responsibilities. Pennie was a nurse and so elected to have Keith at home for as long as possible. Keith absolutely loved Cornwall and its industrial history and said on several occasions he only wished he had been born there as he felt so at home.

Keith and I had many a long conversation mainly ranging over matters industrial but always interesting. I shall very much miss those chats. Our thoughts are with Pennie at this sad time.
